In January of 2011 the Savoy Hop Cats were contacted by the world famous documentary film team, the Neistat Brothers, and asked if they would be filmed in a documentary piece about their swing dance group and their mission of 'Bringing Lindy Hop Back To The People'. Their call came during the wee hours of a Monday morning on January 10th, 2011 and they were requesting to film that night with a live band performing. So the day began seeking to find a band to come perform on very short notice. It also just happened to be two days after Elvis Presley's birthday so we themed our weekly Savoy Night Swing Dance as an 'Elvis Tribute' event and booked a fantastic local 50's style band, the Rhythm Dragons, to play at the event. News of the filming spread like wildfire throughout the community and on less than 6 hours notice the house was packed! The night went off in fantastic fashion, the dance floor was filled all night long and the music fit the occasion in the greatest way. All the dancers and friends that participated helped make it wonderful evening and the HBO film crew did a fantastic job of capturing the positive energy and excitement that one can find at any Savoy Hop Cats' event.

Savoy Hop Cats NBC News Segment - Live
On Monday January 16th, 2012 the Savoy Hop Cats along with their house band The Savoy Swingdicate were invited in studio and live on the air with NBC Channel 12 Phoenix! The Savoy Hop Cats were represented by Nathaniel & Elizabeth Smalley and Matthew & Brittney Hughey while The Savoy Swingdicate, lead by Jeremy Lappitt with the lovely and talented Miss Holly Pyle as lead vocalist, provided the soundtrack for the film shoot and the dancing. Look for The Savoy Swingdicate to be performing live again soon at one of our upcoming events!

Savoy Hop Cats Fox News Segment - Live
On Thursday, October 6th, 2011 the Savoy Hop Cats opened the doors of their immensely popular weekly swing dance venue, Cafe' le Swing. The Grand Opening created a lot of buzz, both in the swing dance community and across the Valley. The Savoy Hop Cats had multiple media outlets cover the event including Fox 10 News! Here is the story that aired recently on Fox News celebrating the event. (With the exception of them incorrectly stating the day we host Savoy Night on as Tuesday instead of Monday it is a great piece). Thanks to Bil Ossher from Fox 10 News for filming this story!
